Museum of Motherhood

The mission of the Museum of Motherhood (MoM) is to redefine how we talk about motherhood — from the perspective of women. Through exhibitions and education, MoM explores reproductive identity, birth, and parenting with a focus on pre-natal and post-natal maternal health.

MoM connects, empowers, and supports m/others by sharing stories of experience, strength, and hope. Tampa Bay’s first and only women’s museum, MoM is devoted to the art, science, and history of women, mothers, and families — inclusive of all reproductive identities.

Founded in 2003, MoM is organized and activated by our community, working with partners around the world to advance the field of mother studies. The MOM Art Annex is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dependent on the support of the community.

Our Programs

Exhibitions
MoM is a living museum. Our exhibits grow and evolve with our members, volunteers, and partners. Highlights include the Escape Womb Experience, MAMA in partnership with Procreate Project, and a permanent collection of art by renowned mother artists worldwide, plus in-person and remote student exhibits.

Programming
From our Annual Academic Conference (each March since 2005) to MaMaPaLooZa Family Festival (each May since 2002) to our fall 2025 Maternal Health Conference, MoM reaches people where they live, work, and play. We also recognize Black Maternal Health Week, World Breastfeeding Week, and more.

Special Events
MoM is open in Gallery Row at The Factory, Building 7, Door B in St. Petersburg. Our mural-filled, child-friendly space hosts pre- and post-natal exercise classes, lactation facilitation with BabyCafé, and Second Saturday Art Walks, among others.
