Across Pinellas County, generosity is already in motion, neighbors showing up for neighbors, nonprofits turning small wins into steady progress, and partners aligning resources where they matter most. DAF Day (October 9, 2025) is our invitation to add momentum. If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), today is the day to recommend a grant. If you’ve been considering a DAF, today is the day to start the conversation.

Why the focus on “today”? Because timing changes outcomes. A grant recommended this week can keep a pantry stocked through the weekend, help a senior stay safely housed, or open a seat in an after-school program. The needs are real and the solutions are ready; DAF Day simply brings intention and action closer together.

At Pinellas Community Foundation (PCF), we see how a DAF becomes a practical tool for families and advisors who want their giving to be simple, strategic, and local. You make one charitable gift to your DAF, cash, stock, or other eligible assets, and then recommend grants over time. We handle the diligence and distribution so your focus stays on outcomes and relationships. It’s giving with a plan, at a pace that fits your life, and with support from people who know Pinellas.

DAF Day is also a helpful reset for the calendar. As year-end approaches, many donors review priorities with their advisors. Think of today as a friendly checkpoint: Which causes are closest to you right now? What changed this year? Where could a timely grant unlock progress? If you’re not sure, our team can share local snapshots—food access, housing stability, youth opportunity, mental wellness, arts & culture—and connect you with trusted partners on the ground.

For advisors, DAF Day is a ready-made touchpoint with clients who value both impact and efficiency. You can help them activate resources already set aside for good, while we provide the local context and grant-making support that makes conversations easy.

Whether your DAF is held at PCF or elsewhere, you can make today count. Choose one Pinellas priority, recommend a grant to a qualified nonprofit, or recommend a grant to PCF to power flexible, county-wide support where needs are greatest. If you’re just getting started, we’ll help you explore whether opening a DAF at PCF aligns with your goals, values, and timeline.

What is DAF Day—and why it matters locally

DAF Day began in 2024 and returns this year with new resources and broad nonprofit participation. The goal is simple: accelerate grants from DAFs to nonprofits doing the work right now. Early participants reported major boosts in DAF giving during the inaugural year, and organizers have expanded toolkits for 2025.

Meanwhile, DAFs continue to hold significant charitable capital in the U.S. While contributions and grants fluctuated in 2023, total DAF assets reached roughly $250+ billion, underscoring how much impact is possible when donors recommend grants. Community foundations, like PCF, saw grant-making resilience compared to some national sponsors.

How PCF makes DAF giving easy

With a PCF donor-advised fund, you can:

  • Recommend grants to qualified nonprofits, locally or beyond, while PCF handles due diligence and distribution.
  • Plan strategically with our team and your advisor to align giving with the outcomes you care about in Pinellas.

If you already have a DAF (anywhere)

Make DAF Day count in three quick steps:

  • Pick one Pinellas priority (food access, housing stability, senior support, youth opportunity, mental wellness, or arts & culture).
  • Recommend a grant to a nonprofit serving that need, or to PCF to make a flexible, county-wide impact.
  • Tell the story in your grant note (why you gave today) to encourage matching gifts and momentum.

If you’d like to open a DAF at PCF

A PCF Donor-advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable account at a public charity (that’s us). You make a tax-deductible gift to establish or add to your fund, then recommend grants over time. We provide policies, terms, and human help—no jargon. Start a conversation with our philanthropy team to explore the best fit for your goals.

For professional advisors

DAF Day is a timely touchpoint with clients who value impact and simplicity. Share a brief note explaining why recommending grants now can advance their intentions—and invite them to connect with PCF for local context, nonprofit vetting, and opportunities where a timely grant can move the needle. Sector partners are highlighting DAF Day as a useful “giving season kickoff” for advisors this year.
