In a time when community support is needed more than ever, Pinellas Community Foundation (PCF) CEO Duggan Cooley recently joined Radio St. Pete for a powerful conversation about the ongoing need for hurricane disaster recovery, nonprofit partnerships, and ways to get involved in PCF’s mission.
Highlighting the Need for Disaster Recovery
During the episode, Cooley emphasized the long-term impact of hurricanes on communities and the ongoing recovery efforts required to rebuild lives. He discussed how PCF collaborates with local nonprofits, donors, and fund holders to ensure resources are available for individuals and families in need—not just in the immediate aftermath, but for the months and years that follow.
Nonprofits Making a Difference
A key focus of the discussion was the incredible work being done by local nonprofit organizations through PCF partnerships. Organizations like St. Petersburg Free Clinic provide essential services, from food assistance and healthcare to housing support. These nonprofits are on the front lines, ensuring that those facing hardship receive the help they need.
The We Are St. Pete Fund: Supporting Hurricane Recovery
Cooley also highlighted the We Are St. Pete Fund, a first-of-its-kind initiative launched by the City of St. Petersburg in partnership with PCF. The fund assists with fundraising for disaster relief efforts, providing critical financial support to residents, small businesses, and City of St. Petersburg employees recovering from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Donors may designate their gifts, and 100% of donations go directly to support those impacted, ensuring fast and effective relief for those facing the long road to recovery.
How You Can Get Involved
One of the most important takeaways from the conversation was that everyone has a role to play in strengthening our community. Whether through donations, volunteerism, or advocacy, there are countless ways to support PCF and the nonprofits making a tangible difference in Pinellas County.
