The Alliance for Weedon Island Archaeological Research and Education (AWIARE) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to promote and facilitate long-term archaeological research, scientific exploration, and public education at the Weedon Island Preserve and throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast region.

Guided by a board of professional archaeologists and dedicated community members, AWIARE is known for supporting significant archaeological research and providing opportunities for scholars and students to explore the area’s rich cultural history.

AWIARE embraces the values of responsible scientific archaeological research and promotes the public benefits of archaeological preservation.

RESEARCH

We support ongoing investigations at the AWIARE Research Station at Weedon Island Preserve. This includes writing and implementing formal research designs, compiling data, and publishing findings from past and present archaeological studies.

EDUCATION

Our public programming offers opportunities for people of all ages to engage with archaeology. This includes archaeo-ecotours, workshops, traveling exhibits, and educational resources for children and adults.

OPERATIONS

We grow our impact through membership, community partnerships, and corporate support to sustain our programs and outreach.
