  • Collaborate: We believe lasting change is a team effort.
  • Integrity: We are accountable to our community and held to the highest standards.

Our Programs & Services

Children’s Needs Program

We believe every child should have access to basic necessities, mental health care, education aids, and enriching activities. Our Children’s Needs Program helps meet over 4,000 individual needs every year—ensuring children can thrive now and in the future.

Resource Closets

Hero To A Child supports multiple resource closets stocked with essentials, educational materials, toys, and food. These are made possible through community drives and are available to caregivers, case managers, and guardians to meet immediate needs.

Guardian ad Litem Support

We work closely with the 6th Circuit Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Office to support the volunteers who are a consistent, trusted presence in a child’s life. These child advocates ensure every child’s needs are met inside and outside the courtroom.

Our Programs & Services

Courthouse Facility Dog

Meet Polar—our courthouse facility dog. Polar offers emotional support to children navigating legal proceedings, helping them feel calm, safe, and empowered to share their stories during difficult times.

Special Events

Thanks to donors and community partners, Hero To A Child hosts joy-filled events like sporting outings, marine life visits, and “Sibling Day Out” reunions. These moments give foster youth the chance to feel celebrated and connected.

Hero To A Child is more than an organization—it’s a promise to every child in care that they are not alone, and that their community believes in them.
